Jetstar vs AA

It was quite a great experience travelling with Nathan on the plane for the very first time. But I must admit I was very very nervous the night before the flight. Kept tossing and turning on my bed thinking of what’s the worst that could happen? What if he doesn’t stop crying throughout the whole journey (it’s no joke, I’ve seen that happening to other parents before) and to be travelling alone without having someone to help me to fold the stroller when we reach the departure gate when I have bags to carry! To make things worse, I usually get very nervous when I have to fly. Any slight turbulence I will turn pale haha. That’s how lousy I am on flights.

But everything turned out great, we checked in the same time with Gabe, he was with me till about 15 mins before boarding time and we met a young family whose daughter was 18 months and they shared their experience with me about flying with a baby. In general they are usually okay unless their ears get affected by the different air pressure when taking off and landing but the trick usually is just to feed them water or let them chew on something and I was SO prepared for that! Clearing immigration was easy, they weren’t so strict on the things you carry such liquid because they know it’s for the baby. Nate slept throughout the flight there and back but just to be on the safe side I fed him milk when the plane took off. So the ride was easy! J We flew AA there and Jetstar back because of the timing and also so that our flights will more or less coincide with Gabes flight schedule. Comparatively, Jetstar is a more baby friendly plane as to AA. We were given a baby seat belt on Jetstar and were given front seat for easy access. Also we were given the priority when boarding. Sad to say AA wasn’t very strict about baby on board whether or not they had a baby seat belt on and we weren’t given the priority to enter first hmph! But both airline flies in and out from T1 at the Changi airport J Im glad we didn’t have to fly into the budget terminal and didn’t have to use the tarmac when boarding and arriving J

Singapore was great. I love Singapore…think we’ve been visiting it yearly. Love how clean, safe and convenient things are there. And not to mention it’s also a very baby friendly country. At every restaurant we went too, they automatically bring us a baby chair and a plastic bowl and spoon the Nathan without us having to request. Very impressive! Also there were baby changing rooms (clean and proper once) at every mall we went too. Didn’t shop much but we were very blessed by our friends and family there. I think I only remember paying for one breakfast meal and they rest were covered by them! And every meal was yummylicious! From western to Chinese to great desserts and drinks by the marina! Talk about overflowing blessing J

We're heading south!

It's gonna be his first plane ride and my first with him ALONE! So much anxiety about flying with a baby on board. i've seen babies and toddlers crying on board (sometimes almost throughout the flight) because of the different air pressure that cause discomfort to their ears :( So they say the trick is just to let him suck on his bottle during take off and landing. dear God pls help make this an easy one! guess this will be a good trial run before the long haul trip to melb end of the year.

we'll be in singapore over the the weekend. if you're wondering why are we not on the same flight, that's because gabes going for a business meeting so he's flying a better airline. mummy and baby have to resort to budget air. not that i'm complaining:) but it's going to be so different this time, even packing to go shows that having a baby means MORE BAGS and on top of that we have to bring over his stroller! but it's definitely a weekend i'm looking forward to! even if it means we come back empty handed. kinda went over budget with my spending for years anyways :(

anywhos will update again with pics (hopefully) when we get back! Merlion here we come!!!

We're back! maybe

I attempted updating this blog a gazillion times and obviously wasn't that successful. just realised the time ticker at the top of the blog says CONGRATULATION on your new born...guess wat, my new borns almost 1! i'm not even gonna announce that the blogs been updated. if you so happen to visit the blog, good for you, it's your lucky day! hah.

How time flies by when you're a mom! and it's such a joy to watch the little grow. although i must say i think he's growing up TOO fast! so much to do, so much to learn! and it's never ending. it gets very tiring at times, being a career woman and a FULL TIME mom! but i'm truly blessed to have great parents and in laws to help out around. makes transitioning to becoming a parent a whole lot easier!
It's true that when you have a kid, your kid becomes the centre of attention and you're just his "background dancers". oh well, not that im complaining :) what a blessed kid! showered with so much love, attention and gifts! i have to consciously tell myself daily not to spoil him. "spare the rod, spoil the child" so guess what i'll be buying soon? :)

here's something to make your day like how it has made mine :)

our little pride and joy :)

Coookiieeeee Monster!

Now who doesn't like cookies, choc chip cookies to be exact!? The only time I made cookies was either with my mom, which she did all the work and I just "helped", or with Pillsbury instant cookie dough. So the first time that I actually made cookies from scratch is with Eunice.

The first time was when we tried her so called "Famous Amos" secret recipe choc choc chip cookies. It actually turned out pretty good, but the ingredients were so expensive. So this time we decided to go for something simple, Choc chip oat meal cookies! There was something wrong with the oven temperature, so some of the cookies were too soft, but they all tasted yummilicious!

The cookie dough

Concentration very hard

Ready for the oven!

Everybody was Kung Fu fighting...Part 2 (Eunice's account)

Gabe’s so much better with updating the blog. I on the other hand prefer to sit down and do nothing and watch the blog being update by him. J

So finally the baby’s kicking (Hee-yah!). They usually start kicking at 17th-18th week but most fist time moms will not realize till later in their 20th week that was very true for my case. At first I thought I was maybe hungry and could be just gas in tummy but I realize that it’s NOT it’s the BABY. It was super exciting! Sometimes it really feels as if it’s his little feet that you’re feeling and Oh the JOY of feeling that. The cutest part of this is when he responses to the music when I placed the earphone over my belly. Not too long after the music is played he’ll start kicking keke. I hope it’s not too loud in there. My boy the kicker J

He also usually kicks at night when Gabe and I are resting and watching the TV. It’s as if he knows just when to be asking for attention. Gabe still does his baby talk with the baby. And when I ask what is it that he’s telling the baby, he tells me it’s a father and son secret so okay la whatever :P

4.5 months before we get to hold him in our arms!!!

Everybody was Kung Fu fighting...Part I (Gabe's account)

Its one of those things in life that will make you go WHHOOAAA! And its probably the first interaction that parents will have with their baby, while still in the womb. Its as though the baby is playing with you, trying to grab your attention. I must say, it definitely got my attention! As if its not enough that there is an actual living being growing in Eunice's womb, it then seems like its actually trying to bond with you using the only way it can. Haha..ya, I know I'm exaggerating here, but I'm just an excited father-to-be :)

When Eunice told me that the baby was kicking, moving, wiggling, moving..etc, in the womb, I thought, "Nah, cannot be lah, so fast?". So she took my hand (while I was driving), and placed it on the womb. I waited for a while and told her, "nothing lah", so she asked me to wait a while more. Then low and behold, I felt it! It was a soft and gentle flutter, similar to a rumbling tummy. So subtle, you sometimes have to even stop breathing just to make sure it wasn't you moving. Hahahaa..it was magical! Imagine, me and him, just a few centimeters apart, trying to touch each other. What a great moment it was.

Since that day, he has been kicking, moving, wiggling and moving more and more, and each time he does it, it brings gladness to my heart.

4.5 months to go baby, till I get to hold you in my arms! :)

Now..the update that everyone have been asking...IT'S A BOY!!

So, we went for our 3rd check up today at Adventist Hospital to see how the baby is doing, and of course the baby is doing fine! The baby is now 19 weeks old and we got to see all his anatomy forming just how its supposed to be. If I'm not mistake, the doctor said that the baby weights about 288 grams now. That's lighter than a can of coke.

Previously the doctor didn't want to confirm it, but he did this time, and its a BOY! Now we can start looking for a name and also buy clothing that would suit him.

This is 18SX stuff, but for you guys, I'll show it anyways, he he. I'm embarrassing my kid even before he is born...hahaha. Sorry boy, I'll make it up to you with some ice cream.

There it is....that's what a boy looks like. The doctor said that's it. I don't really see it, but I'll trust him

Ok, this is a clearer picture...hahaa...that it, 19 wk old IT!

The baby...ain't he cute!

Ok...hope we don't take too long for the next update :)
